FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

PRE-CRUISE PREPARATION:

Q: How can I get the Jungle Magnolia kit?

You can purchase the exclusive Jungle Magnolia Quiltworx pattern and kit at a 20% discount through Granny Sassy Designs. Your kit can either:

  • Be mailed to you after final payment, allowing you to pre-cut the fabric before the cruise.
  • Be delivered directly to the ship, ready for you to begin working on board.

Q: Are cutting services available?

Yes! Granny Sassy Designs offers professional cutting services, so you can receive your kit fully prepped. All you'll need to do is sew once you're on board.

Q:  Will there be any pre-cruise preparation?

Definitely! Carin and Lucy will host a free Zoom class to help you get ready, answer any questions, and guide you through the quilting techniques you'll need to know. This is a great way to prepare before setting sail.

Q:  Can I request a custom design?

Yes, Lucy will be offering custom designs for those who want something unique. Just let us know in advance!

Q:  Why do I need to bring my own sewing machine?

Sewing machines will NOT be provided due to customs issues bringing them to the ship. You will not have a problem with your personal machine – but we would with 30+ machines. To help with this we are offering to help with a bag you may need to transport your machine, including carrying it on an airplane. Please see below.

Q:  What if I need a bag to transport my machine?

We’ve got you covered! Granny Sassy Designs offers Tutto bags at wholesale prices, which are perfect for transporting your machine.

Alternatively, you can find Stanley or Milwaukee rolling tool bags at Lowe’s or Home Depot, or more affordable options at Harbor Freight.

byAnnie has a great bag that was designed to fit a Featherweight or can be enlarged to fit your machine. If anyone is interested, Lucy will offer a free zoom class to make these bags. (Locals are welcome to come to the shop for a hands-on class!)

ON-BOARD:

Q:  How much time will I have for quilting on board?

You’ll have six full days at sea dedicated to quilting, with a coordinated teaching and event schedule that will be emailed to you prior to departure and posted in the room. While there won’t be classes on port days, the sewing room will remain open for those who wish to quilt.

Q:  What is the sewing room setup like?

We are fortunate to have a large room with enough tables for everyone to have their own table and space! You’ll also have room for a rotary mat, and there will be several ironing and cutting stations available. You can also bring a wool pressing mat and a very small (mini) iron to keep at your table.

Q:  Will there be supplies available on board?

Granny Sassy Designs will offer a limited selection of notions on board for purchase. We recommend packing everything you think you’ll need, but if there’s something missing, let Lucy know in advance. She will also be offering a discount on supplies to all cruisers.

Q:  What about Celebrity Cruises' service?

If you haven’t sailed with Celebrity before, you’re in for a treat! Their service and quality are renowned, and they are considered one of the best in the industry. You can expect exceptional care and attention throughout the cruise.
